ABOUT ME ...

 

I am a Senior at The Pennsylvania State University, graduating with Bachelors in Communications and a minor in African Studies. Upon graduation, I plan to begin a career in news reporting and mass communications.

 

In 2011, as a junior in high school, I began my interest in journalism by attending KYW News Radio’s Newstudies program in my hometown, Philadelphia. KYW News Radio, the sister radio station to CBS 3, gave high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a major market radio station with the Newstudies student reporter program. During this program, I was given the chance to network with television and radio reporters, write and broadcast my own story and get an inside look of how real television and radio stations function.

 

As a senior in high school, I explored my interest by becoming the weather reporter for my high school’s daily morning television announcements. After graduating high school, I acquired a summer internship at Comcast in corporate communications. During my internship, I assisted my supervisor, a Senior Communications Manager at Comcast, with things such as deliverables, Custom Request Forms and Pay Per View Templates for upcoming events and promotion.

 

In the summer of 2013, after my freshman year of college, I returned to Comcast as an intern for the Senior Manager of National Customer Operations. Throughout my time there, I created articles for their internal company website, assisted in the production of their internal company television program and implemented interviews the website and TV program.

 

As a sophomore at Penn State, I joined a student-run, web-based radio station as a news reporter covering news from campus to worldwide. The radio station gave me experience in research, live reporting, editing and interviewing.

 

Currently, I am a reporter and anchor for the Centre County Report, an Emmy Award winning newscast. I anchored for the weekly newscast that airs in about 29 counties. Every week, I report breaking and local news with a team of reporters that airs on the show. I've also gained a lot of experience operating studio cameras and control room equipment, writing news package scripts, and recording and editing.

 

Throughout my college career, I became involved and active in organizations such as the Black Student Union, the African Student Association’s programming committee, and UNICEF.
